WHY MUST I BE SAVED?

You must be saved because you have sinned against a holy God, and one day you will stand before Him.

The Bible says:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23

Sin is more than making mistakes. Sin is breaking God’s law and rebelling against the One who created you.

Jesus said that hatred comes from the same sinful heart from which murder comes. He taught that looking with lust is adultery of the heart. We have lied, coveted, dishonored God, failed to love Him with all our heart, and failed to love our neighbor as ourselves.

God knows not only what you have done, but also what you have said and what you have thought.

“God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
— Ecclesiastes 12:14

GOD IS HOLY

God is not like us.

He is perfectly holy, perfectly righteous, and perfectly just. Because He is a righteous Judge, He cannot simply overlook sin.

“The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.”
— Psalm 145:17

You may consider yourself a good person. You may compare yourself to people who have done things far worse than you have.

But other people are not the standard.

God is.

And none of us measures up.

“There is none righteous, no, not one.”
— Romans 3:10

SIN HAS A PENALTY

The Bible warns:

“For the wages of sin is death…”
— Romans 6:23

Physical death is not the end.

“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
— Hebrews 9:27

Every person will stand before God and give an account.

Jesus repeatedly warned about Hell. Scripture describes a final judgment in which those whose names are not found written in the book of life are cast into the lake of fire.

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
— Revelation 20:15

This is why salvation matters.

You do not merely need to become a better person.
You need to be forgiven.
You need to be reconciled to God.
You need to be saved.

YOUR GOOD WORKS CANNOT SAVE YOU

Going to church cannot erase your sin.

Being baptized cannot erase your sin.

Giving money, helping people, becoming religious, or trying harder cannot pay the debt you owe God.

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”
— Titus 3:5

Imagine standing before a judge guilty of a serious crime and saying, “Yes, I broke the law, but look at all the good things I have done.”

A righteous judge must still deal with the crime.

In the same way, your good deeds do not erase your guilt before God.

You need something you cannot provide for yourself.

You need a Savior.

THAT IS WHY JESUS CAME

God did not leave sinful humanity without hope.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived without sin.

He willingly gave His life on the cross.

He died for sinners.

He was buried.

And on the third day, He rose from the dead.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

The judgment that guilty sinners deserve can be escaped only because of what Christ has done.

There is no other Savior.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:12
